The commitment of Arexons for Health , Safety and Environment

HSE Policy

Petronas Lubricants Italy Spa - Arexons Division intends to protect the environment and the right to health and safety by safeguarding from accidents its employees, contractors and third parties concerned.

Petronas Lubricants Italy Spa - Arexons Division has transposed into its body of regulations the HSE principles of its Parent Company and ensures compliance with the corporate objectives and strategic guidelines relating to the protection of health, safety and the environment, according to the principles set out below:

  • Compliance with such laws and prescriptions currently in force as apply to the Company as well as with any other requirements it has undertaken to fulfill.
  • Ongoing commitment to improve its performance, in particular with respect to the prevention of accidents at work and industrial diseases, the pollution prevention and the efficient use of natural resources.
  • Commitment to raise awareness of a “safety and environment-oriented mindset” in the people who operate in the name and on behalf of Petronas Lubricants Italy Spa - Arexons Division, in that the effectiveness of the system and the implementation of the policy require everyone’s commitment and accountability.

Considering the nature and size of its health and safety risks and its impacts on the environment, the Top Management has wanted, organised and defined an entity that is responsible for implementing and auditing the safety and environment management system, making available such resources as are required for this purpose.

Improvement objectives and targets are pursued as follows:

  • Protection of the health and safety of workers, ensuring that physical, mental and social well-being conditions are in place;
  • Ongoing monitoring of environmental performance and of health and safety risks related to working activities;
  • Evaluation of hazard factors and environmental impacts during the design of new activities, processes, products, facilities and services;
  • Training and accountability of personnel and awareness-raising of suppliers and contractors in order to make people aware of the HSE aspects relating to their activities;
  • Systematic communication of information on environmental and safety performance;
  • Ongoing discussion with internal and external stakeholders, raising the awareness and engaging employees and suppliers on HSE-related issues.

Petronas Lubricants Italy Spa - Arexons Division undertakes to disseminate such Policy to all employees who work, directly or indirectly, for the organisation and to make it available to the public.

The Company Management undertakes to review each year the contents of the Policy so as to ensure its adequacy.

Basic Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) policy

Petronas Lubricants Italy Spa - Arexons division guarantee the right to health and safety for all its employees and external parties.

For this reason, the company assesses al risks relating to the health and safety or workers by examining the processes, the places of work, equipment used, by ensuring all the necessary preventive measures and, for the residual risks, the correct use of personal protection equipment.

Specific PPE for every role have been identified within Company Risks Assessment "Documento di Valutazione dei Rischi".

Furhermore, a basic PPE kit has been identified (safety shoes, eye protection glasses and workwear of high visibility vest). Such PPE are to be worn, in the following areas regardless of the activities performed:

The Basic PPE shall be used in the following areas:

  • production departments;
  • logistic departments (warehouses);
  • outside courts;
  • maintenance departments (technical room, workshop);
  • R&D Laboratory;
  • Quality Control laboratory.

This rule does not apply for pedestrian transit on router protected by physical barriers.

The management encourages the spread of a risk aware culture to all employees and foster responsible behaviour across the whole company.

The management also encourages all personnel to extend risk awareness to all external parties and encourage responsible behaviour.

Substance Misuse Policy

Petronas Lubricants Italy Spa - Arexons division is committed to provide a Substance Misuse-free workplace as Substance Misuse will impair employees' work performance and the safety of one's self and others, which can be a threath to health, safety and environment.

It is policy that the unauthorized consumption, possession, distribution, purchase or sale of any Substance of Misuse, or being under the influence of any such Substance of Misuse either within its premises, or while performing work and/or business for or on behalf of Petronas Lubricants Italy Spa - Arexons division is prohibited.

Petronas Lubricants Italy Spa - Arexons division:

  • shall promote awareness of the hazards associated with Substance Misuse.
  • reserves the right to test and search for Substance Misuse on any employee, contractor and sub-contractor and their employees, as well as third parties within its premises.

Petronas Lubricants Italy Spa - Arexons division employees who breach any provision of this policy will be subjected to disciplinary action, which may include termination of employement.

Petronas employees who breach the mentioned rules are subjected to the sanctions provided by articles 38, 39, 40 of the CCNL (National Labor Contracts) for Chemical Industries.

Petronas Lubricants Italy Spa - Arexons division contractors and sub-contractors and their employees, as well as third parties who breach any provision of this policy shall be barred from working or visiting any premises for a duration at the Company's sole discretion.

Petronas Lubricants Italy Spa - Arexons division shall, at its discretion, facilitate appropriate assistance to employees who voluntary disclose that they are under the influence of a particular Substance of Misuse.

Petronas Lubricants Italy Spa - Arexons division requires its employees, contractors and sub-contractors and their employees, as well as third parties within its premises to adhere to this policy at all times.

Under this policy, "substance of misuse" includes any illegal drugs, alcoholic beverages containing ethanol, legal psychoactive drugs contained or used without legal prescription, and legally prescribed psychoactive drugs consumed beyond their therapeutic or prescription uses.
